In just 3 days, you will experience the best of Cusco and Machu Picchu.
You will start by discovering the greatness of the imperial city and its imposing Inca fortresses, continue with the magic of the Sacred Valley, where you will find ancient temples, millenary terraces, unique salt mines, and living traditions; and you will conclude your journey by visiting the incredible Machu Picchu, one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World.
Experience the best of Cusco’s archaeological wonders with our Afternoon City Tour from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.. We start at Cusco’s Main Square (Plaza de Armas) with a guided visit to the legendary Qoricancha Temple, known in Quechua as the Temple of the Sun. This sacred site was one of the most important temples of the Inca Empire, admired for its masterfully carved stone walls and deep historical significance.
Next, we travel in a comfortable tourist vehicle to the awe-inspiring Sacsayhuamán Archaeological Park. This monumental Inca fortress is famous for its massive stone blocks, fitted together with extraordinary precision, and offers panoramic views of Cusco. Its impressive architecture draws comparisons to the world-famous Machu Picchu.
Our journey continues to Qenqo, an ancient ceremonial site believed to have been used for astronomical and religious purposes; Puka Pukara, a striking Inca military outpost; and finally Tambomachay, also called the Bath of the Inca, a ceremonial fountain dedicated to the worship of water.
We conclude the tour with a scenic return to Cusco, leaving you with unforgettable memories of the Inca capital.
Tour Schedule: 7:00 a.m.
Start your journey with hotel pickup between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. Once the group is ready, we head north of Cusco to explore the breathtaking Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Our first stop is Chinchero, a charming Andean village known for its Inca agricultural terraces, the remains of Túpac Inca Yupanqui’s royal estate, and its colonial-era church. Here, you’ll also witness a traditional textile weaving demonstration, learning about ancient techniques still used today.
Next, we visit Moray, a fascinating archaeological site featuring circular agricultural terraces believed to have been used for Inca farming experiments. We continue to the famous Maras Salt Mines, a network of thousands of salt evaporation pools in use since the Inca Empire.
We then head to the impressive Ollantaytambo Fortress, an Inca stronghold built for defensive and ceremonial purposes. After exploring its massive stone structures, we enjoy a buffet lunch in Urubamba, the heart of the Sacred Valley.
In the afternoon, panoramic train ride to Aguas Calientes.
8:00 PM → Arrival and free time (optional: hot springs).
You will have a spectacular sunrise in the town of Machu Picchu, the famous town of aguas calientes, then climb to the llaqta of Machu Picchu at approximately 8 am, with a 2-hour guided tour, then return to the town of Machu Picchu (aguas calientes).
Upon arrival, enjoy a private guided tour of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, exploring the most iconic temples, terraces, and viewpoints of the Lost City of the Incas. Learn about its fascinating history, architecture, and spiritual significance while taking in breathtaking panoramic views.
Around 2:00 p.m., you’ll take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, with free time for lunch (optional) and to explore the charming town. Later, board the train for your return journey.
Upon arrival at the final station, our transport service will take you back to your hotel in Cusco, with an estimated arrival time of 8:30 p.m.
